Epidemiologic Perspective Paper The student will write a scholarly paper that presents an in-depth inquiry and discussion on a historical or present health problem with an epidemiological perspective. ** must submit references and a summary of the five required journal articles for this assignment Assignment Criteria: 1. Include the disease history (natural history) and background. 2. Include an epidemiologic perspective (incidence/prevalence rates, mortality/morbidity rates, and other statistics as needed). 3. Discuss cost factors, disease patterns, and disease dynamics (include graphs and/or charts). 4. Analyze the patterns of the disease/disorder and discuss the web of causation. 5. Explain the infectious, social, cultural, behavioral or genetic epidemiology involved in the health problem/disorder. 6. Explain how an advanced practice nurse would apply epidemiological concepts in evidence-based nursing practice. 7. The scholarly paper should be in narrative format, 5 to 8 pages excluding the title and reference page. 8. Include an introductory paragraph, purpose statement, and a conclusion. 9. Include level 1 and 2 headings to organize the paper. 10. Write the paper in third person, not first person (meaning do not use we or I) and in a scholarly manner. To clarify: I, we, you, me, our may not be used. In addition, describing yourself as the researcher or the author should not be used. 11. Include a minimum of 5 professional peer-reviewed scholarly journal references to support the paper (review in Ulrich Periodical Directory) and be less than five (5) years old. 12. APA format is required (attention to spelling/grammar, a title page, a reference page, and in-text citations).
