Determine the variables tested in each of the following experiments. If applicable, determine and identify any positive or negative controls.
1. A study is being done to test the effects of temperature on the feeding behaviors in fish. Different aquariums are set up with six
goldfish in each one. Some aquariums are set to having higher than average water temperatures, some lower than average water
temperatures, and some at average water temperatures. The aquariums are equally maintained and cleaned throughout the
experiment. Over a period of six months, the fish are fed the same type and amount of food. Each feeding is recorded and the types
of behaviors observed documents.

2. To determine how the amount moisture affects plant growth, a research sets up an experiment with four potted plants. Each
plant has an automatic watering device installed in the pot with the following settings:
• One plant gets watered twice a day
• One plant gets watered once a day
• One plant gets watered every other day
• One plant gets watered once a week
All plant pots are given the same amount and type of soil, exposed to the same amount of light, and kept at the same temperature. At
the end of four weeks, plants growth and leaf coloration is measured and documented.
