Assignments will be graded in accordance with the specifications in the section titled "How You’ll Be Graded."
Write an essay on one of the following topics.
Topic 1. Explain and evaluate one of Leibniz’s arguments for the view that substances are immaterial simples. Your thesis would be your evaluation.
Topic 2. Defend the following thesis: Leibniz successfully defends his views about human freedom from Arnauld’s objections.
Topic 3: Formulate and defend a thesis stating a view about Malebranche’s occasionalism and Leibniz’s idea of pre-established harmony. Your thesis should state some relation between them.
Topic 4: Formulate and defend a thesis stating a view about Locke’s and Berkeley’s accounts of general terms. Your thesis should state some relation between them.
Topic 5: Defend the following thesis: proponents of a representational realist view of perception can successfully respond to Berkeley’s criticisms.
